It’s that time of the year again. Yes, it’s the PRShots retail Christmas TV adverts round-up. Last year the first TV advert appeared on October 23rd from clothing retailer Joe Browns. But that was a little bit of a wait compared to 2022 when online retailer Very was the first UK brand out of the gate with a festive campaign ad that hit our TV screens on October 7th.

Warning: you may feel slightly Christmassy watching these adverts, so we recommend that you stock up on mince pies before watching.

Keep coming back for the latest adverts, and if you spot any new ones or we've missed out your advert, then feel free to email the links and the details to news@prshots.com

Here are the 2024 Christmas adverts in date released order

Waitrose 26/11/24

The second and final part of the Waitrose Christmas advert ‘Sweet Suspicion, A Waitrose Mystery’ finds Succession actor Matthew Macfadyen finally solving the mystery of the missing No.1 Waitrose Red Velvet Bauble Dessert. And once again features the all-star cast of comedian Joe Wilkinson, Sex Education’s Rakhee Thakrar and Dustin Demri-Burns from Slow Horses.

Moonpig 25/11/24

Moonpig has left it late for their “Moonpig Strut” series of Christmas adverts. The advert series – there are six - starts with a different festive Moonpig in each advert and starts with the first Moonpig strutting down a snowy street, showcasing the latest card personalisation options, including stickers, handwriting, photos, and experience gifts.

Sports Direct 21/11/24

As you would expect, Sports Direct’s “New Traditions” Christmas advert features a whole host of sports stars, including footballers Frank Lampard and Lucy Bronze, rugby player Maro Itoje and endurance runner Russ ‘Hardest Geezer’ Cook.

Airbnb 20/11/24

Airbnb’s Christmas advert 'Santastrophe' shows Santa trying to get in a hotel to deliver presents but failing miserably. The moral of this story is; kids just get your mum & dad to book an Airbnb if you want presents this Christmas.

JD Sports 15/11/24

The JD Sports Christmas advert “The Family Portrait” features a disparate bunch of families on Christmas Eve who are all united by clothing, food, and keeps the Christmas things in the background.

Burberry 15/11/24

Burberry’s advert shows a number of celebs and hardcore Burberry fans, including David Tennant, Alex Hassell - who look like they’ve been papped rather than featured - the family of London-based artist Slawn and long-time Burberry fans Drs. Herschel and Lilly Stoller.  Everyone is wearing Burberry from a simple scarf to an entire top to toe ensemble.

Iceland 15/11/24

TV personality Josie Gibson fronts Iceland’s Christmas campaigns – there are three of them – and explains why Santa shops at Iceland for his party foods and his Christmas dinner. Is it because he’s…….

John Lewis 14/11/24

It’s the advert everyone waits for. What music will it have? Will it be as lachrymose-inducing as last year? Will their advertising agency manage to pull off their second advert? The answers are it’s Richard Ashcroft – him out of the Verve – “Sonnet”, definitely not, and no.  The ad features Sally, who is rushing to buy a last-minute present for her sister 15 minutes before the store closes. While she’s in the store, she manages to pass through a Narnia-like portal into her past life, visiting all of the times she and her sister have made up and fallen out.

M&S Food 13/11/24

The second part of the M&S Food Christmas campaign sees Dawn French being uninspired in her choice of gifts but is helped by the Festive Fairy with some food gift choices.

Episode 2

Agent Provocateur 13/11/24

You won’t see the Agent Provocateur ad on TV, it’s on social media only. For the Christmas advert, the lingerie brand has eschewed its normal super-model choice, and instead, it’s hired former England footballer Peter Crouch. Yes, Peter Crouch. OK, so it also has Abbey Clancy on there to, as Peter probably doesn’t look too good in lingerie. It’s supposed to be a Christmas advert, but it’s definitely not Christmassy; they have to tack on “a don’t forget date night this Christmas” bit at the end to justify the tenuous connections with Christmas.

Coca Cola 12/11/24

Coca Cola has gone all high-tech and has used Real Magic AI to create, not one, but three adverts for their global Christmas campaign. “Silver Santa” shows a snowy world and a fleet of Coca Cola trucks delivering Christmas magic. “Secret Santa” has the trucks delivering to waiting folk in a snow-covered town. “Unexpected Santa” has the trucks again delivering while watched by the local wildlife.

Secret Santa

Unexpected Santa

Charlotte Tilbury 12/11/24

The new Charlotte Tilbury Christmas advert brings in the big guns with “Beauty Muses” Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss, Richard E. Grant and more hosted by Amelia Dimoldenberg in a variety show format.

Tesco 12/11/24

Tesco’s Christmas advert, “Feed your Christmas Spirit,” tells the story of Gary, a construction worker who visits his grandfather, who has just lost his wife and lacks the Christmas Spirit. Inspired by some Tesco gingerbread men his grandfather gives him – he always made a gingerbread house with his grandma - he creates a gingerbread Christmas for his grandad and friends.

M&S Clothing and Home 7/11/24

The M&S clothing and home spot stars Britain’s Got Talent star Skylar Blu playing a young girl who uses a snow globe to turn the house upside down and get them all dancing on the ceiling – literally. Full marks for featuring the Jackson Sisters classic “I believe in miracles” for the soundtrack. A track not heard enough at any time of the year.

Barbour 7/11/24

Barbour has recruited Shaun the Sheep and the rest of the flock again for their Christmas advert.  After successfully patching up The Farmer's jacket last year, Shaun the Sheep, Bitzer and the rest of the flock are carolling at a very cold Mossy Bottom Farm, Bitzer is trying his best to conduct the choir, but their ‘baas’ begins to freeze.  Find out if Bitzer can change the tune with the help of some “Baa-bour magic” to keep them warm.

Flannels 7/11/24

The Flannels’ 30-second Christmas advert sees a group of four dancers on “the world’s best dance floor”, showing off the brand’s “future nostalgia”, blink and you’ll miss them.

H&M 7/11/24

Spanish film director Albert Moya directs H&M’s advert and includes a montage of photoshoots for the campaign–starring the likes of Kim Gordon, Awar Odhiang, Nepapery Odhiang, Lily McMenamy and Eddy Earl Aldridge, who wear clothes from H&M’s Christmas collection and answer the question “what is love?”

Fortnum & Mason 6/11/24

The upmarket London food store has an advert entitled A Christmas extraordinary” animates the store's 2024 window display and includes a selection of their food and drink, all finished off with the store's iconic wicker hamper.

Matalan 6/11/24

The Matalan Christmas advert is entitled “the most wonderful time of the year…right?” and stars the Melling family, a ‘perfect’ family of five who are “striding into Christmas in their best party gear”.  But then Matalan reveals the more realistic Christmas moments, ie board game fights, family fights, eating all the chocolate in the advent calendar in one go, and running out of Christmas wrapping.

Boots 6/11/24

Boots Christmas advert features Bridgerton’s Adjoa Andoh, who plays Mrs Claus, who finds hubbie Santa is having forty winks when he should be supervising everything. So she takes over Santas Werkshop and supervises the elfluencers to complete all the last-minute touches and saves the day.

Waitrose 5/11/24

Waitrose has split their Christmas advert in two halves and has gone full-on Cluedo, was it Mrs Green in the Conservatory etc. The first “Sweet Suspicion” advert features a star-filed family getting ready for Christmas, only to discover that the No.1 Waitrose Red Velvet Bauble Dessert has gone missing.

M&S Food 4/11/24

The M&S Food Christmas campaign sees Dawn French return as both her in real-life, and as the voice of the Festive Fairy. In the first film – which uses the street that Paddington lives on as a location – features the Festive Fairy, who helps a tired and unprepared Dawn French to create the perfect Christmas party for her neighbours.

Episode 1

Greggs 4/11/24

OMG Greggs have only gone and got the domestic goddess Nigella Lawson for their first-ever Christmas advert. In the advert Nigella is seen tucking into Greggs festive menu, yes, she really does eat a pastie, but only the smallest corner!  We wonder if any of them are “mycro-wav-aable”?

Aldi 4/11/24

Aldi has dug up Kevin the Carrot from his vegetable patch for their latest Christmas advert. This time ‘he’ returns as the “Spirit of Christmas” and is joined by Katie the Briefcase and many other carrots to save the day after the spirit of Christmas has been stolen by the Bah humbug thieves.

The Perfume Shop 4/11/24

In its 2024 festive film, The Perfume Shop sees Santa Claus working hard to deliver Christmas presents – he even gets a parking ticket – but when he gets home, there’s a present waiting from Mrs Claus that makes up for all the hard work.

Morrisons 4/11/24

Yet another returner.  Morrisons’ singing oven gloves are back for the Morrisons Christmas advert. This year they use a cover of ‘Give a Little Love’ from Alan Parker’s classic kids’ musical “Bugsy Malone.”

Amazon 4/11/24

Amazon’s Christmas ad entitled “Midnight Opus” shows a singing caretaker who hides hums and sings as he works, but who gets noticed by his co-workers who boost his singing talents. This is from the company that gave their workers packets of sweets for all their hard work.

Asda 2/11/24

Asda’s “Gnome of Christmas” – see what they did there - advert, tells the story of a team of garden gnomes, Gnicky, Gnorma, Gnibble and Adventure Max who leave the garden to save Christmas at one of its stores after a snowstorm stops the stores' festive transformation. Warning there are a lot of very bad gnome puns.

PRShots users can download hi-res images of the gnomes from the George at Asda Media Centre.

Etsy 1/11/24

Etsy uses the kids’ Where’s Wally character for its Christmas advert. In the advert, Wally is moving through a train station wearing his characteristic red and white striped top and red and white beanie hat with the crowds shouting out his name until he reaches the quiet of a restaurant where he receives a present from someone who really knows him.

Harvey Nichols 1/11/24

Knightsbridge’s Harvey Nichols Christmas advert celebrates film director Tim Burton, who gave us "The Nightmare before Christmas" and who is currently being immortalised with the “World of Tim Burton” exhibition at the Design Museum.  The advert features Burton’s Robot Boy character and is an imagining of what a Tim Burton advert would be like.

Smyths Toys Superstores 1/11/24

Smyths advert shows what happens when you say the words "Smyths Toys”. Here’s a clue, it’s nothing like when you say Candyman in the mirror; for a start, there’s a lot less blood and death, but you do get hundreds of kids turning up at your door uninvited. So, a bit like that nightmare when you dream you’re at Boris Johnson’s for Christmas.

Debenhams 1/11/24

Debenhams have pulled out the big guns with this year’s advert. It starts with a stressed-out women getting caught in the rain with her Christmas shopping before moving to a calm Elizabeth Hurley wearing a sequin dress - the outfit of the 2024 Christmas season – who avoids the stresses of Christmas by going online to Debenhams to do all her Christmas shopping stress-free. Followed by an equally chill Ellie Taylor and Leomie Anderson.

Argos 1/11/24

Argos went back to the characters from their advert from last year and grabbed Connie and Trevor for their new “Rockstar” advert. Trevor dreams of being a guitar-playing rockstar playing T-Rex’s “20th Century Boy” – one for the kids there – atop a pile of speakers and electrical goods in the shape of a Christmas tree and Connie – a screaming fan in the dream - helps out with an appropriate present from the Argos range.

Sainsbury’s 1/11/24

Sainsbury’s has brought back the stop-motion Roald Dahl BFG (Big Friendly Giant) from last year’s Christmas advert. In Sainsbury’s “BIG Christmas” advert, the BFG is a bit bored by his food choices and wants something a “bit more phizz-whizzing”. So, he gets real-life supermarket worker, Sophie and Sainsbury’s to help out.

FatFace 31/10/24

FatFace’s “it’s a wonderful gift” advert – see what they did there? – is directed by Kemi Anna Adeeko and shows the family sharing a single favourite cardigan throughout the year and then opening their presents which are......

Very 31/10/24

Very has brought back its flamingo-filled Christmas creative from last year but added some new products. There are a couple of adverts, one promoting Very and its Very Pay BNPL solution which features an animated festive snowy version of Liverpool, and a second set of adverts where the Flamingos buy all of their presents on a mobile and tablet computers from the Very site.

For the other adverts see https://youtu.be/_hz-7ed35-Y  https://youtu.be/qHtQ7aVq_Q0  https://youtu.be/w18BUqzGx48

TK Maxx 30/10/24

TK Maxx’s festive film sees the return of its “festive farm” – literally the return as it’s the same advert as last year - where animated farm animals, including llamas, hedgehogs, goats, geese - ie your average farm - show off their Christmas gifts to the farmer. There’s also a making of video for those interested https://youtu.be/_CVSifi3kUY in where the cash was spent.

Lidl 28/10/24

Lidl have gone for something more in the spirit of Christmas with their “A Magical Christmas” advert. Which sees a young girl helping a woman with her shopping and receives some magical bells as a thank you, and thereafter, everything she dreams about comes true, including her gift of one of her presents to the Lidl toy bank scheme.

Miu Miu 28/10/24

The Miu Miu Holiday Campaign is fronted and narrated by actor Emma Corrin and features her dressed top-to-toe in different Miu Miu clothing and clutching various different Miu Miu accessories while she reads out a poem to Christmas.

Urban Outfitters 24/10/24

Urban Outfitters Christmas ad is aimed at the Gen-Z market, you can tell that because they’ve called it “Happy LOLidays” – see what they did there? It also features a load of products and brands that Gen-Z would like, so Owala, Miffy, Monchhichi, Kewpie, Fujifilm Instax and they’re all dancing. It's a nice-looking ad, but I have no clue where the LOLs come in.

Freemans 24/10/24

Freemans returns this year with its “Sophie & the Style Squad” advert, and this time it’s got first dibs on Sophie Ellis-Bextor for their 2024 Christmas advert – she was in last year’s M&S advert - and sees Sophie and her team delivering gifts to unsuspecting families on a snow-dusted street.

LookFantastic 3/10/24

LookFantastic’s “Home of Iconic Beauty” Christmas advert features a very brief slice of Molly Mae and a bunch of other models showing off their beauty gifts.

So there you go, our round-up of the Christmas Adverts from 2024. Which one was your favourite? We have to admit that we had something in our eye after the Tesco advert. Beautifully shot, amazing animations, great acting and a wholesome-as-anything story. We loved it.

If you want to see more, you can see the adverts from our 2023 round-up here. Warning - Not all of them are still available, so there may be gaps.
